Sugar Bear Domestic Shorthair Adult Female in Memphis, Tennessee

My story
This is Sugar Bear. Sugar Bear is a special needs girl. She has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia.

CH (for short) is sort of like the cat version of Cerebral Palsy.

Her movements are spastic, and she has difficulty walking.

She uses a special kitty wheelchair but when she out grew her wheelchair, she learned to walk herself from one place to another.

She is an amazing girl that manages to overcome any obstacles life throws at her.

I dont think she even realizes she is not like every other cat.

She is very loving, and very playful.

Since she does have spasticity, and has difficulty controlling movements she sometimes will scratch without realizing it.

So for that reason I do not think she will do well with young children.

Sugar Bear will need to go to a home that doesnt mind her 'disabilities" and has time to devote to her.

Sugar Bear is allowed free run of the house during the day when her foster mom is home, but sleeps in a cage, padded around the sides with baby bumper pads for her comfort and to keep her from banging into the sides with her spasticity.

She sleeps caged only because her foster mom is worried she will get trapped somewhere between furniture while the household sleeps. And we would not want that to ever happen.

If you are interested in seeing Sugar Bear, please call and set up a meet & greet. Message from Foster Mom: "The posted video is of Sugar Bear helping me, her foster mom, clean water from the cat room floor after the storm this past May (2017) that knocked out power for a few days.

She had outgrown her wheelchair and I had not made her a new one.

I looked up and Sugar Bear had taught herself to walk, albeit wabbly, without her chair.

Normally she would lay on the ground and flop from side to side to get to where she wanted to go.

She is very resilient and overcomes most challenges thrown at her.

She is a very intelligent girl.

I think she is remarkable."
