Border Collie - Tyler - Small - Adult - Male - Dog
As you can see in the pictures, Tyler is a gorgeous black and white sheltie/border collie mix with tan points, a split face, with one eye brown and one eye blue. His striking good looks get attention whenever he's out and about. When a squirrel or passerby gets his attention, his ears prick up and tip over at the tops-making him even more handsome.
Tyler came to Real Good Dog Rescue by way of Memphis Animal Shelter where his owner had surrendered him. He was very underweight, weighing only 9 lbs and was terrified by the shelter setting. Clearly, this was a smart, very sensitive pet whose world had fallen apart.
Director Lisa answered the call to take Tyler into Real Good Dog Rescue. Foster Mom Cheryl, who has a tender spot for border collie-types, loved Tyler up to 13 lbs so he was healthy enough to be neutered and get his microchip. Tyler had several foster doggies to play with, but mostly he kept close to Cheryl's side.
Foster Mom Sylvia took over caring for Tyler because Tyler prefers the company of people to other dogs and there's only one other doggy at Sylvia's house. Here, Tyler has discovered his inner sweet puppy. He loves going for walks. He greets all who come his way with interest and good manners. Whatever anxiety he once carried with him has vanished in the comforting love and routines his foster mom provides. He also loves it when other Real Good Dog Foster moms pick him up and let him lay his lovely head on their shoulders while stroking his glossy, soft coat.
Tyler still guards his food and his treats, so only a home without children or only with older (teen) children is appropriate for Tyler's needs. He loves calm, a routine, walks, and a shady, fenced back yard where trees provide canopy for the squirrels and birds he loves to hunt/chase.
AN ADOPTION FEE OF $150 IS REQUIRED FOR TYLER.
If you are interested in adopting, have a look at our adoption website , read the online adoption agreement , complete the online adoption application , and submit it.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
